A major field of activity for mer-terre foundation engineering team during the past 10 years has been the improvement of soil deposits with in-place treatment methods. Two of the numerous techniques that had been developed for this purpose had been implemented by mer-terre: Vibrowing and Vibrocompaction. These methods are successfully applied in fine grained soils in order to improve their overall bearing capacity, consolidation settlement behavior and to mitigate the liquefaction effects from potential earthquakes. In addition, mer-terre is specialist in Stone Columns installation. This not only increases the amount of densification, but provides a degree of reinforcement and a potentially effective means of drainage.
